Ever have a great idea and after thinking about it even more, you're like WTH (what the heck) am I thinking? Well, that's kind of what happened to me. I was in church one Sunday and getting fully inspired by the preaching and started taking notes. Do I usually take notes in church, nope, but the preaching was about taking the little you have and doing big things with it. With that being said, I decided that Mission Lane should do something different for the holiday season. Last year we donated winter accessories to a local women and children’s shelter, and although it was a great experience we are still trying to figure out what our niche will be.
So we partnered with the United Methodist Church of New Brunswick (my church since day one) and hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner for people in need within the community.  All my worries, lack of sleep were totally worth it! It was one of the best Thanksgivings I think I’ve ever had. Cooking with my family, church family, and volunteers was not only fun, but there was a feeling of joy and calmness over everyone although we didn’t know what to expect. We had no head count, just prepared as much food as we could. The goal was to at least serve 40 people. I baked not just one, but 3 turkeys for my first time, and being that I live in NY and the dinner was taking place in NJ my mom and sister helped out a TON with getting things prepped.
At the end of the day we served 35 people within the community and what made the day even more special was that some of our guests hung out with us all day. The came in at 12pm and enjoyed dinner, desserts, socialized and just relaxed. Seeing them enjoying themselves and being in a warm place made this event all worth it.

Thank you to everyone who served, cooked, and donated food so we could serve Thanksgiving dinner to those in need. A huge THANK YOU to @pulledtogether for the most stunning looking chicken I think I've ever seen, Pierre’s Bakery for the assortment of cookies and @justpiesbylisa for the sweet potatoe pies! I didn't get the chance to try them, but our guests were raving about how good they were. Looking forward to next year!
xoxo,
Mission Lane
